FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Watching, signing in, and buying a film.

I'm new. Where should I start?

Try How Is Mars Transformed for Human Settlement?, a free film from Out of the Cradle. You can also browse all films. No account is needed to watch a free film.

Why are new purchases temporarily unavailable?

We are moving checkout to Oceanpayment. New purchases will reopen after setup and payment testing are complete. Previously purchased films remain available when you sign in with the same account. Free films remain available.

Which films are free?

Out of the Cradle EP02–EP04 and the currently listed Cosmic Geographic films are free to watch. EP01 is not currently available on this site; you can start with EP02. Available Out of the Cradle episodes from EP05 onward are sold individually. Each film page shows whether it is free or available to buy.

What does a purchase include?

A purchase gives the account used at checkout access to stream one film on Scienshell. It is a one-time payment, with no subscription or automatic renewal. Other films and downloadable files are not included. Check the selected film and final price before paying.

When will Season Pass be available?

Season Pass is coming soon and is not yet available to purchase. Included episodes, final pricing, and access terms will be confirmed at launch. Existing film purchases remain available in your account.

Can I download a film or watch offline?

We currently offer streaming on this site, with no downloadable copy or offline viewing. You need an internet connection to watch.

Why sign in with Google?

Sign in to buy a film, watch a film you own, or post comments. Purchases are linked to that account, so use the same account when you return or switch devices. Free films can be watched without signing in.

I paid, but the film is still locked. What should I do?

First, check that you are signed in with the account you used to buy the film. Payment confirmation can take a little time. Check Account and your payment confirmation before paying again. If access is still missing, email contact@scienshell.com with the film title and transaction reference, if available.

What if checkout closes or shows an error?

Closing checkout or seeing an error does not always mean a payment failed. Check your payment confirmation, payment statement, and Account before trying again. Contact contact@scienshell.com if you are unsure or see a duplicate charge.

What if a film will not play?

Try refreshing the page and checking your connection. Use an up-to-date browser and, where available, try Auto or a lower streaming quality. For a paid film, sign in with the account used for purchase. A playback error is not a reason to buy the film again. If the problem continues, contact us with the film title, device, browser, and error message. If a fault on our side prevents playback after payment, we will arrange a refund through the original payment provider. See our Refund Policy.

Are subtitles or translated captions available?

The Scienshell player currently has no subtitle selector. An embedded YouTube player may offer captions where they are available for that film. Translated captions are not a standard feature of paid film access.

Can I choose the streaming quality?

Where a quality menu is available, Auto adjusts the stream to your connection, and you can choose from the resolutions listed. Available options depend on the film and player. A film produced in 4K is not a promise that every stream or device will offer 4K.

Can I continue watching on another device?

Sign in with Google or an email code with the same email address and open Account to find your purchased films and saved progress. Recent progress may take a moment to update. Signed-out progress depends on browser data and may be lost if that data is cleared. In the Scienshell player, the Resume setting controls whether playback starts from your saved position.

How can I delete a comment or request deletion of my data?

While signed in, use Delete beside your own regular comment on the film page. For live comments, account data, or viewing history, email contact@scienshell.com. Account deletion is handled by request, not by a self-service button. It may affect access to purchased films; limited transaction records may need to be retained. See the Privacy Notice.

Can I show a film in a classroom or at an event?

You may stream our free films in a classroom or at an event. For a paid film, contact us about screening permission before the event; a personal purchase does not by itself grant public screening rights. Please do not share account credentials or redistribute the film.

How do refunds work?

You may request a change-of-mind refund within 14 days of purchase. Eligibility is reviewed under our Refund Policy and applicable consumer law. A full refund removes the purchased film’s access; a tax-only adjustment does not. Your rights for faulty or undelivered content are not limited to this 14-day request window.

Where can I find my invoice?

Open Account with the account used for purchase to find available purchase documents. For an invoice or a billing correction, email contact@scienshell.com with your order reference. An access or fulfillment confirmation is not a tax invoice. Complimentary access does not have a purchase invoice.

What if I cannot sign in?

Try signing in with an email code sent to the same email address. If you cannot access that mailbox, use your email provider’s account recovery. You can also contact us with your purchase reference so we can investigate missing access. Do not send your password, sign-in codes, or full card details. We cannot recover your account for you.

Are these documentaries or science fiction?

Our films explore possible futures and speculative scenarios in a documentary style. They draw on scientific ideas, but their imagined worlds and future events are not records of things that have already happened.

Can I watch without accepting usage statistics?

Yes. Choose Only necessary in the privacy prompt. Sign-in, purchases, playback and saved progress still work. You can change the choice through Privacy settings in the footer. Advertising tracking is currently off.

Why do some films ask me to load YouTube?

Those films use an external YouTube player. We show a cover first so your browser does not connect to that player until you choose Load YouTube player. This choice does not enable Scienshell usage statistics. Reloading or leaving the page stops the embedded player.

How does this site relate to the YouTube channel?

This is the official Scienshell website, from the studio behind @Scienshell. Here you can explore our films and stream the titles available on this site.
